The Family Shelter Mural Project

YLS members and United Way staff teamed up with Brandon McIver, technical director at Trustus Theater, to design a mural to wrap around the Family Shelter's dining hall. On November 12th and 13th, YLS volunteers from many different companies and organizations came together to see this project through as well as help with yard work. The images below illustrate the complete transformation that took place in less than 24 hours!

Thanks to our volunteers the mural was brilliantly executed! The design featured a cartoony outdoor background and silhouettes of children actively moving around the room. A beautiful, bright sunset featuring a family walking side-by-side completed the design. The vibrant, fun and light-hearted concept was inspired by the Family Shelter's commitment to providing a safe haven in times of emergency to Columbia families.

Thank you to all those who participated and a special thanks to those that donated to this exciting project including Home Depot, Sherwin Williams and Walmart.
