13th Annual Tug-A-Plane
How long does it take 20 people to pull a 127,520 pound airplane 25 ft across a finish line?!?
On April 24th, 2010 community members gathered together for a day of family fun, food and a little friendly competition. An 18 member YLS team competed against 21 other teams comprised of USC students, Marines, UPS employees and others from around the Midlands. Their goal was to be the fastest team to tug a UPS-A300 aircraft 25 feet, while family and friends cheered them on. Although the YLS team was out-pulled when the winning team finished in just 10.39 seconds, the overall outcome of the event was a huge success! Together, all 22 teams raised an amazing total of close to $10,000 for United Way which has been put toward homelessness, hunger, graduation rates and maximizing income and access to dental and health care in the Midlands area.
